The Atoms of Life

The atoms of life, Carbon, Oxygen,
And Nitrogen, the main parts of the chains,
That hold the keys to structures that make men
The same as other life, except our brains,

That think and fill us up with delusions
Of grand schemes and plans, beyond what is real,
We’ll think and plan and jump to conclusions
Not very sane, but based on what we feel

Is different, even though our brain’s just
The same atoms as every living thing,
We dream and think that our illusions must
Be as real as an atom and its ring

Of electrons, even as the X-Rays
Show our bones, some still will believe that thought
Must make us somehow different in ways
That we can’t see, that somehow thinking ought

To be independent of chemistry
Which we have learned. There atoms, which men named,
Are independent of philosophy
Though the Greek philosophers can be blamed

For the concept, disproved explosively,
That atoms are indivisible, though
This proof is not enough to make men see
Beyond the madness where their brains will go

Beyond where thought, belief, and delusion,
Makes the atom bomb their final conclusion.

Perhaps I have made this too subtle to
Make the point I am trying to convey
It’s all about religion and what’s true
And where world is and we are all today

Where those who don’t believe cannot be good
And must be sent to HELL ASAP
And though religion’s for peace and brotherhood
They’re also war, hate, death and history

Is full of those who were in god’s name burned
However many gods there’ll been, they still
Remain inside brains of those that can’t learn
That belief is not the truth and they will

Be the ones who’ll kill us all for being
For laughing at them and not agreeing
With their preposterous belief and view
That there’s no truth, but what they know is true

Beyond their thought, belief, and delusion,
An atom bomb’s the final conclusion.
