Someone needs to see the big picture and find the balance between medicine and commerce, and that someone is Errol. Determined to keep the ER open (even though it’s a huge money loser), he is always putting out fires of one kind or another: malpractice or medical error, incidence analysis reports, appearing in front of the M&M board, bartering with the insurance providers, dealing with diagnostic labs, drug companies, med schools, etc. He is dedicated to ensuring the best possible quality of health care, but at the same time the countless battles have left him wary – a man needs to be on-guard.
Errol has been married for 24 years to Ethel Rosenstern. Theirs is a happy relationship – separate vacations while at first seemingly counterintuitive – help immensely (take that Dr. Phil). His colleagues generally view Errol favorably, though his role in the hospital renders him a man apart. Fashion-wise, Errol is an exceedingly dapper man, though he tries to dress casually whenever budget cutbacks must occur. When he is wearing chinos, be en garde!
